HELP US BUILD A FUTURE OF HOPE AND STABILITY

Please join us on Saturday May 16, as we row and fundraise for HomeCorp’s mission.

Since 1988, HOMECorp has been a lifeline for Montclair residents facing the threat of displacement due to soaring housing costs. Founded by a coalition of local clergy and residents, we remain Montclair’s only community-based nonprofit solely dedicated to creating and preserving affordable housing.

Today, as economic uncertainty continues to impact families, HOMECorp stands as a beacon of hope—providing stable, affordable homes and financial guidance to those who need it most.

OUR IMPACT

Through development, homeownership support, and housing stability initiatives, we are creating pathways to opportunity and lasting change.

Affordable Housing

We manage 13 affordable housing properties, offering 61 units to low-and moderate-income families.

Homeownership Support

We’ve helped over 150 first-time homebuyers achieve their dream of homeownership, including through the development of Talbot Village in 2017.

Housing Stability

In the past year alone: 1) We provided a home for a mother and her six-year-old daughter who had been homeless for over a year, living in a bus at Lackawanna Plaza; 2) We welcomed a family of Afghan immigrants, helping them transition to a safe and stable environment.

Community Need

Over 40% of Montclair renters are cost-burdened, spending more than 30% of their income on housing. The median home price in Montclair exceeds $900,000, putting homeownership out of reach for many hardworking families. Our waitlist for affordable housing continues to grow, highlighting the urgent need for more solutions.

Your Support Makes All the Difference

None of this would be possible without the generosity of people like you. Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or are just joining our mission, your contribution fuels our ability to provide safe, stable housing for those in need.

Join Us in Making a Difference

We invite you to be a part of this life-changing work by supporting our Row-A-Thon—a celebration of community solidarity and a chance to make a tangible impact. $50 helps provide essential home repairs for a family in need. $100 supports financial counseling for first-time homebuyers. $500 contributes to the development of new affordable housing units.

REMEMBERING ROOSEVELT NESMITH

At the Row-a-thon, we proudly honor the memory of HomeCorp’s former Board President, Roosevelt Nesmith, who led HOMECorp with unwavering dedication from 2018 to 2023.

Roosevelt brought not only intellect and passion to his role, but also a deep sense of integrity and compassion. His commitment to HOMECorp’s mission was evident in every decision he made and every relationship he nurtured.

But his leadership wasn’t confined to the board. Roosevelt eagerly participated in our very first Row-a-thon, forming a team with his sons and close friends—and rowing his way to a strong finish. His enthusiasm, determination, and team spirit reminded us all of the values he lived by.

Whether leading an organization or pulling hard on the oars, Roosevelt inspired those around him. His legacy continues to guide HOMECorp and will always be a part of who we are.
